Mark Arnold Fredrickson

Page history last edited by Isidra Francis 11 years, 11 months ago

Mark Arnold Fredrickson, 54, is a resident of Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood and one of five current Green Party candidates for Congress in the Illinois 5th District special election.

On the issues

Fredrickson plans to focus on five core issues in his bid for the Fifth District Congressional seat:

     1) Demand greater accountability for the $700 Billion taxpayer-funded bailout of the nation's banks & financial institutions.

     2) Advocate marketplace incentives to preserve the Great Lakes' fresh water, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, promote alternative energy & modenize the nation's electrical distribution power grid.

     3) Win the War on Terrorism by negotiating Middle Eastern peace.

     4) Expose the "Fourth House" lobbyist role in Capital Hills lawmaking.

     5) Prudently prime private sector economic growth with targeted tax reductions & restrained Keynsian government spending.

          a. Encourage US corporation to repatriate an estimated $545 Billion in foreign earnings by suspending the 35% tax.[1]

          b. Reduce the payroll tax to encourage employers to hire the unemployed.

          c. Demand governmental agencies present revenue impact statements before allow the "short sale" of public infrastructure.[2]

          d. Curtail runaway government spending, starving private investment & increasing future value of debt service expense.[3]

Biography

Fredrickson was born in the East Central Illlinois community of Danville--home to the late Congressional Speaker Joseph "Uncle Joe" Cannon[4] (after whom the US Congressional office building is named).

Fredrickson worked as an investigative reporter for the now defunct St. Louis Globe Democrat as well as radio & television stations in downstate Illinois.

Later, Fredrickson graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. The Danville native continued his MBA graduate education at DeVry University-Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago.

Fredrickson is currently on leave as President of the Northwest Area Citizens Organization (NWACO)--a citizen's group devoted to honest & open government.

Fredrickson distinguished himself by being only one of three [5]special election candidates who have run against former Congressman Rahm Emanuel. Fredrickson captured almost 20% of the Democratic Primary vote in 2004 with a $1,000 campaign budget after defending his political nominating petition challenge lodged by Fifth District Committeewoman & Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Cynthia Santos.

Besides NWACO, Fredrickson performs paralegal & finance work for leading Chicago law firms, concentrating his pro bono legal research in the areas of election law, unemployment law, intellectual property and regulatory & governmental affairs.

Fredrickson is often associated with the late Chicago North River Commission leader & environmentalist William Fredrickson as well as with Carl Fredrickson who built many single family homes in Chicago's Northwest suburban Norridge.

Fredrickson's hobbies include equestrian three-day eventing, freight railroading & commercial aviation, carrying a Northwest Airlines FAA air crewman certificate.

Fredrickson recently celebrated his 27th St. Hillary's wedding anniversary & has served as a member of the choir of St. Monica's Parish near O'Hare International Airport.

In the Headlines

One of the leading Illinois newspapers, The Commercial News, reports that "Danville could have a new name to add to its list of successful national figures[6]."

Daley & me

Of the many Fifth District Congressional candidates, Fredrickson is the only candidate who ran previously against Richard M. Daley's-endorsed candidate--Congressman Rahm Emanuel. Both The Chicago Tribune[7] & The Chicago Sun Times[8] have reported that former Department of Water Resources First Deputy Commissioner Donald Tomczak testified that he deployed municipal workers against Fredrickson & other Fifth District Congressional candidates in the 2002 Democratic Primary election in apparent violation of the 1983 Shakman Consent Decree.

Fredrickson served as Mayor Richard M. Daley's condominium association residential "gatekeeper" in 1994 prior to turning over these "keys" @ the condominium association's request to to Mr. James Duff, later convicted in $100Million fleecing of Minority Business Enterprise set asides @ the condominium association's request.

Windy City Times notes Mark Arnold Fredrickson's support for all 21 GLBT positions on Fifth District Congressional candidate questionaire[9].
